Welcome to Lakeshore’s Top Comic where we are Laughing on the Lakeshore.
The first of it’s kind in the area, launched last year to an amazing response. In 2010, we had 8 comics, and over 100 people came out to vote at the Kadow room Capitol Civic Centre. In 2011 it doubled! We had 16 comics and a packed audience. You can see the 2011 comics that are signed up!
How it works.
Each August, you come out and VOTE for your favorite comic. In 2011, audience members texted in their vote to 23827 – more than 50% of the audience utilized this technology.
Who started this?
Moi. I’m Liysa Callsen. I’ve been going to clubs since I was 19. So I hope to reach the goal of bringing stand up to Manitowoc. Don’t ya love a great laugh, the really heavy laughing, tears leaking out of the side of your eyes laughing. I grew up crying to comics like Robin Williams, Steve Martin, Chevy Chase, and Gildna Radner – just to name a few.
Why?
I’m selfish, I like to laugh and I didn’t want to drive an hour. I also knew others felt that way. Manitowoc needed a traditional stand up comedy experience. I also wanted to provide a platform for those brave enough to step up to the mic.
